T3/T4 Upgrade???
T3/T4 Upgrade???
Anyone know a place where I could rebuild my turbo? I have 89 TII that just blew it's turbo.
How about t3/t4 compressor upgrade and wastegate porting?
This shop wants $700 for the t4 compressor upgrade and $50 for porting. On top of that...the labor.

It would seem that the only time you ever hear HWO pipe up is when hybrid turbos are mentioned..
Hybrid turbos suck, yes, if you compare them to a full to4 setup.. however not everyone is ready to upgrade to a full to4 setup (manifold, wastegate, BOV, fueling etc)..
I'm running a to4 compressor on an S5 turbine.. guess what, it does me just fine..absolutely 0 turbo lag, I make full boost (13 psi) by 3000 rpm and boost is fine right to redline.. I have no boost creep problems (my wastegate is unported)..
My last dyno (a couple weeks ago) put me at 270.4rwhp @ 5900 rpm and 253 ft/lbs torque at 3400rpm (4th gear pull) .. Sure that's not the 350-400+ HP you could get from a full turbo setup, but hell, it's enough to make for a very quick streetcar..
I will admit that my intake temps do start getting up there on extended boost runs, however I've got a FMIC waiting to be installed which should eliminate that problem ..
I certainly hope you get off your high horse sometime and realize that there is a place in the world for hybrid turbos.. If someone is looking to get monster power from their car, then the hybrid is definitly not for them, however if someone just wants to get some decent power out of their car and doesn't want to sink in the time and money a full turbo swap will entail, a hybrid is definitly a decent route to take..

I have a Grandnational turbo. T3/T4 i think. It does just fine. at about 6k rpm the boost actually goes down like 2 psi... but its not that bad. thats also in 5th gear.. you shouldnt have a problem with the T3 hybrid turbo.. Im not...
