An 87-88 TII has a curb weight of between 2850lbs and 2900lbs depending on options and year. Obviously, power steering cars are a little heavier. The lightest would be and early 87 TII with an aluminum hood, no power steering, no alarm system, no power door locks and no ABS.

An 89-91 TII has a curb weight of 2990lbs to 3000lbs depending on year and options. They are heavier than 87 - 88 TIIs because of an addittional reinforcement bar underneath the dash, electric seatbelts, standard ABS, a fully equipped interior and fog lights. I may have missed a few features, but you get the idea.

to take stuff off we took the rear speakers out, all that crap underneath the carpet, hood liner junk, abs, p/s, air pump, single exhaust, lot of heat shielding gone, fan shroud and e fan, s5 wheels are 13 pounds light each i think, theres a lot of crap all over the car that can be removed when it snows and gets boring a lot of work gets done to cars

Dont take off the insulation from the hood. The heat will mess it all up and it will start chipping off.

Theres lots of stuff you can do. Just use your imagination but remember that you have to sometimes
?comprimise? between ?comphort? and performance.

The aluminum hoods are the lightest. They come in NA and TII flavors.

Weight

A 1988 GXL 2 seater with a 5 speed should have a curb weight of about 2800 lbs as best as I can figure out from reading all the the available books and test drives in magazines.

I came across that same site and that Is where the confusion started. I even posted a thread on It. So I averaged the two to 2713.

But In my case, I had the 2+2 but swapped out my Interior for 89 Black Turbo II Interior minus the back seats. So I stand to save a good 45lbs.

Even still, I may just have my car weighed.
