i would like to ask help to diagnose the problem that i am having right now and if it would be an expensive fix... at WOT from 5.5k-7k RPM in 1st-3rd gear i would get this tremendous vibration from the shifter... to the point where it very hard and abnormal for the car and i cannot hold the shifter anymore. this is not speed related but only at high RPM's. ive been reading here that it could be an out of balance driveshaft and/or bad u joints. has anyone had this problem and if so how much did it cost you to fix it? if i were to wait a bit before i fix this will it do some serious damage (even if i avoid the serious vibration at WOT)? i just DD this car and shift at about 4.5k rpm tops right now but would like it to be smooth at WOT. i hate having something wrong with my car. let me know what you think....and when i get this fixed, i will might as well get a aftermarket boost gauge and change all the hoses to silicone for reliability. im trying to get this car running perfect/reliably before i seriously put money into her.

Maybe check your trans mount? You can check the U-Joints pretty easily by jacking up the rear with it in gear and spinning one of the wheels, it will make the other spin and the driveshaft, check for scraping or anything out of the ordinary.

any mechanic should be able to fix it.

BOV is more of an upgrade then reliability. (Mine just sounds too awesome to not recommend one :P)

FCD : IF you bounce off the limiter you may lean out the rear rotor.

Don't boost too much, and be careful when you start doing exhaust work, stock turbo will spool crazy :P

thanks for the heads up/advice fleemer. but right now im using the stock turbo and not planning on boosting it anymore for a while. i want to keep it reliable since its also my DD, but as is, its already fast enough for my liking from previously being NA... and with my exhaust, i have no cat. it has the stock t2 downpipe to a 2.5 inch magnaflow resonator to 2 inch y-pipe and end with 2 magnaflow mufflers. for some reason its super quiet which i like do you think i would get crazy boost creep with the exhaust setup and should get a high-flow cat? and yeah i heard the BOV is a turbo saver and adds a nice sound which i dont regret upgrading cuz its just plain awesome sounding. i got the greddy type rs bov.... goes whhhoooooshh..

so now that i have my car. ive been driving it and the motor runs superb... but there is only one thing that is really bugging me about it and that is i am getting this extreme vibration from under the car to the shifter at WOT (only from 5.5k-7k RPM while driving). anyone had this problem before? i was reading that it is an out of balance driveshaft and/or bad u joints... i then took it to a driveshaft expert and he said its not the drivesahft and it could be the tranny having a bad bearing, new mounts, or needing a rebuild (gear box is smooth with no grinds)... so im not 100% sure what it can be. and my next question would be if it is safe to DD it under 5k rpm till i save enough money to fix it and/or will it make the problem worsen over time if i dont fix it immediately and just wait it out?? its sad cuz then i cant see its full potential and cant drift it if i can make it go WOT without causing any damage.
