T2 to N/A conversion..YEP!

I have a 1987 T2 that I am putting a N/A 13B in.... The car is basically trashed but it should be a fun run around/ SCCA beater. Here are the pics of it.. it is the black and red car..lol well also the black and white car... depends on what pics you are looking at.. BTW it is also rolling on a 4 lug suspension, I have most of the 5 lug bits so it will get that back......anyways throwing the motor in next week, I will post up results... I am probably painting it a metalic blue, something like that. I have a set of BSA 17" wheels with new tires waiting on the 5 lug swap... should be fun.

Is the ignition side of the harness the same? Also can I still use the T2 guages or will I have to throw in the N/a ones...

The driver side harness should be the same since it can stay when doing the swap the other way. I've found its better to switch the clusters out because of the boost to battery voltage gauge difference. Don't know if you would have to switch the dash harness out for the difference.

Since the car is a s4 that side of the ignition harness should be the same.
You should only need to run the ecu's harness since I don't think the two ecu use the same harness plug. As for the cluster, I would not swap it unless you wanted to sell the TII cluster. Other than that I think you should have it.

BTW - look into those motors again now that your back.

I am thinking about leaving the 12A front cover on it...that way if I decide to ever swap it back into a 1st gen car it'll be easyer..lol.. Now all I have to do is find that pesky 2nd gen oil pan I was tossing around. Chad, does charles have those lines off yet, I need those as well.

Both Harnesses are different.

The Drivers side is different by one item. The Alternator plug.

On S4 TII's the alternator plug is in the drivers harness.
On S4 NA's the alternator plug is on the EFI/Passenger side harness.

You can use your stock gauges. In fact you can then have a TII with a volt meter(they have boost guage instead).

You will need modify a few wires on the TII EFI harness to make everything work in the car(guages and dummy lights).

You have to cut a wire and solder it to another to pin make your temp gauge work.

There are 2-3 wires which on the NA harness which on a TII harness are combined(2 wires merge to one). You just cut that extra wire and splice it into the one which the NA harness went to.

Check out www. rotaryresurrection.com he has a write up which will help.
The factory service manual's EFI section is a must for reference.

He has the TII shell with the driver side harness still there.
He wants to drop in a s4 13b NA and use the passenger side harness and ecu form the NA shell.

Trevor check out Kevins write up on it.

woah what? why the hell would ya do that! :P hehehe

never mind then. I would guess you could just drop in a NA as long as you didn't mind the clsuter boost guage not working. I think you'd run the EFI side Alternator plug vs/ the TII drivers side.
