t2 brake caliper help

Cool t2 brake caliper help

ok ok ok this is driving me crazy.. i needed to replace the brake caliper on the passenger side because it started leaking. i pulled one off a gtu and it didnt fit the rotor with the new pads in but fit the bolt patter so i got another one and it fit the rotor with the new pads in but didnt match the bolt patter. do i have to get another claiper off another t2? if i can use one off of another 5lug please can xomebody list the year and model? thanks..

you may just have to back off the pistons to get the first one to fit. Check your FSM for instructions.

i back it in as far as it will go.. but i will take it to some shop and see if they will be able to compress it better. i realy cant get it to go back anymore. but im useing the needle noce to do and there poping of.... but if it bolts up then its should be the rite one?

Pads are the same, but you need a caliper with the rear vented rotors. If the donor had vented rotors, should fit.

so a brake caliper should work for the T2 as long as i get it off another 5 lug vented roter?

That's my guess, as all rear calipers are the same if equipped with vented rotors (86-91)

i believe all 5-lug calipers will have the same mounting postion. the difference is whether you have the 4-piston fronts with larger front discs and vented rear discs (TII, GXL, vert) or single pistons all around with the smaller front and non-vented rears.
