synthetic oil

i recently purchases royal purple 5w-30 synthetic oil. is it ok to but that in for my upcoming oil change? anything bad about it? i have an 88 n/a

when i asked about this i got an overwhelming response from people who say its OK to use high end syn and that it actually good for it. i use conventional anyways. im broke.

Yes and no, it depends. Most say gastrol GTX. The reason to use regular v synthetic is because regular burns cleaner. Synthetic tends to have more ash content. The oil is injected into the combustions chamber, thus needs to burn off. Regular oil will do this, synthetic does not as thoroughly (usually). Unless you are running premix without an oil injections system (AKA no you aren't), stick with regular oil. You'll save a few bucks and you'll be 100% safe anyway.

many say yes, and many so no... there's a whole bunch of pros and cons. i say use teh search before you even had post this. good luck though.
