sway bar sizes

wanted to know the size of both the front and rear sway bars. stock look pretty beefy so how bigger can aftermarket ones be? I have a s4.

off the top no, but the base S4's do have smaller front and rear bars.

i wanna say that the base cars have a 22mm front and 17mm rear bar? and the upper models (anything with 4 piston brakes) is 24 and 19.

i might be wrong, but its been covered before. the dumb way to check the bar sizes is to take a wrench and put it on the bar, a 17mm wrench fits on a 17mm bar....

after market should be like 1.125" or so in the front

For clarity, the first value is the posted diameter, and the second is the rough unit conversion

Racing Beat Front 1.125" about 28.6mm
Racing Beat Rear 0.625" about 15.9mm

Tanabe Front 27.5mm about 1.08"
Tanabe Rear 18.0mm about 0.71"

ST Front 1.0625" about 27.0mm
ST Rear 0.75" about 19.1mm

Godspeed Front 27.1mm about 1.07"
Godspeed Rear 18.1mm about 0.71"

EDIT: the Godspeed and Tanabe bars are very close to the same size and they look to be the same color, but I haven't seen comparisons on the bar ends. Does anybody know if they are the exact same product, and one is just relabeled?

Don't let the relatively small increase in diameter make you think it is only slightly stronger. Torsonal strength is related to the cube of the bar diameter. So a 10% increase in diameter results in a 33% increase in strength. These bars are between about 80% to 120% stiffer than the stock base model bar. Just food for thought.

Sus tec makes good stuff, also check out Circuit Sport. I'm rocking both products on my Nissan, pretty inexpensive and easy to install.

As for Godspeed, i'm not a fan. A former roomate bought some of that and when he went to install the sway bar the thing bent. Just sayin'. lol. I dunno what he tried to install it with, MAP gas torch, forklift or what. hahah
