sway bar issues

OK this is the 3rd time so not a freak thing. I have broken my sway bar mount on the right a-arm. it is always the right. I searched for a thread on it and no luck. NO one seems to make an aftermarket replacement. I am running S5 a-arms on a s4. Racing beat sway bars. Tein coilovers and pillow mounts. Any ideas? or should I just keep replacing the stock on every 6 months?

If you mean the end links, which is the part that connects the sway bay to the control arm:

Or if the mean the bushings:

I've broken stock end links before but never the actual mount for the endlink. Usually a good autocross track will find a bad endlink in a few turns... But you're breaking the mount??? Weird.

Based on the fact that you're breaking the SAME part every few months, I'd really start to think that you have something that is binding up in the front suspension. How low is the car? Does the sway bar end link intersect the swaybar at approx a 90 degree angle? Are you running the stock end links? Are you running the poly bushings in the endlinks?

You might want to consider upgrading to heim joints for the end links. They have a little more side to side movement in them that might help if your sway bar is binding up with the lower control arm.

I am running the mazdatrix adjustable endlinks. They are adjusted all the way down. Tein coilovers. Tien pillow ball mounts. Racing beat sway bars. The bracket needs to be made out of something better than aluminum.

You could always just make yourself some new ones from 1/8" steel plate or something like that, but I'd tend to agree that there's probably something else at work here, I'd bet that you're binding somewhere and that's what's causing your problems.

I realize this is elliptical but don't most folks do just the opposite?

Why are the Mazdatrix end-links set all the way down? This is might be your problem unless you are trying to purposely preload the swaybar?

Want to resurrect an old thread...

I have a S5 1991 convertible and my dirver side sway bar end link MOUNT has broken exactly as the Original Poster one.

Is there any place where I can find an improved mount or at least stock replacements??

Thanks.
