swaps..

if i was to buy an n/a rx7, could i later swap in a turbocharged rotary? or would that just be a PITA? becuase i know that MR2 n/a's are totally different from the MR2 Turbos, but the swap can be done. it's just a heck of a wiring job.

also, (dont everybody rush at me with a knife but..) what is the possibility of throwing in a 2.0L 4cyl? say SR20DET or 3SGTE? i know i saw that RX7 with the 2JZGTE in it. (and yes, i searched the forums and found a post saying it might be fake) what tranny did they use? possibly the one from the Supra TT? becuase i know that one bolts onto the 3SGTE engine also. and if not that tranny, ill have to pull one off the older supras and celicas. (or even an AE86 with a 4AGE?) anyways, ill stop my ranting. it's just random thoughts for way way future stuff.

It'd be cheaper to do a 13BT swap than a completely different engine swap. Aleast the 13BT would pretty much bolt in. The piston engines, well there'd be a shitload of fabrication to do. But there's much more than just swapping engines, such as ECUs, tranny, driveshaft, yada yada, do a search.

oh ya and

IB search!

Go with the 13BT...its the best route for a swap, and there are plenty of people here that have done the swap that can anwser questions. Many will tell you to just buy a TII, and thats the smartest way to go, but if u got an n/a (and I got one), the swap is the next best thing.

WHY?
The SR20DET maybe will run up to 400hp; 500hp if you got the bucks.
The 3S-GTE is in the same boat.&nbsp It ends up getting stupid expensive up there due to requiring a rebuilt bottom end and reworked heads.

The 13BT has the potential to do that also, with a lot less money and it all fits!

You wanna get stupid with a 2JZ swap, you better have a lot of money.&nbsp You're going to break all the drivetrain parts, so that requires a 2JZ AND JZA80 transmission.&nbsp Last time I checked, that's a $5,000+ purchase!

Did you win the lottery or something or you have daydreams...&nbsp TALKING about mods gets you no where but waste-of-time discussions...

what crawled up your butt?

i was merely asking a simple question. im not a rotary guy and i feel more comfortable working on piston engines. ive seen the "V8 in and RX7" website, and wondered if its possible to throw in a 3SG or SR20. i dont CARE for all-out horsepower...

I'll try to make it simple.

You have 2 options maybe 3.

Put in the 13b Turbo engine cost will be roughly 2,500

For nearly the same amount if you want piston engine in it, go with a 350. Fairly easy to do, and the power is worth the swap if you REALY want to go with a pistoin engine.

I would not recomend a 6 cyl, or even a 4 cyl engine cus its not worth it, it will cost about the same as the 350.

Chevy 350 blocks are cheap to build and parts are always available.

Other than that you can learn how a rotary works. Hell 6 months b4 I got my rx-7 I was like "Whats a Rotary"

6 months later I knew a lot about them. People make it seem so complicated.

Simple words: Dont go with a 4 or a 6 cyl. Stick with Rotary or a V8.

So you're another one of those...
I-wanna-do-this-engine-swap-just-to-do-it folks?
If then, you're looking at several hundred dollars worth of labor and raw materials to custom fabricate your engine mounts, not including the motor and drivetrain.&nbsp Are you going to transfer the entire stock ECU and engine harness?&nbsp If not, you're looking at several thousand dollars worth of stand-alone equipment, and several hundred dollars more to tune everything.&nbsp Are you competent to install and tune your own stand-alone EMS unit?

Sorry. we don't usually get people asking questions about piston engine swaps just because they WANT to do it.&nbsp It is usually because a piston engine swap is more ECONOMICAL in their minds and have no clue how to work on a rotary engine.&nbsp OR, they want to produce more power for less money, less hassles, or more potential power...usually for drag racing...

what you need to do is pull your engine out. then talk about some swaps to really **** Ted off. then kidnap ted and tie him in your engine bay. now he's even mader. a few whips and he should be "running" you into some quick 1/4 times. just give it a rest between runs
