Swapping in rear seats

Is it hard to swap in a set of rear seats and belts into an FC that didn't originally have them?

Would it even be legal?

Well i'm sure it wouldnt be too incredibly hard to install the bottom, youll have to drill some holes though. You'd want to make sure you also took the carpet outta the hatch of the car that your're getting the seat out of because it is attached to the bact rest, and its what mostly keeps it in place when its folded down. But the real question would be, why on earth would you want one of those backseats?!? They're pretty much worthless. They cant even properly hold a baby seat theyre so small.

IT's QUITE easy. I did it in an afternoon... come with seat belts and everything. although dont expect a full-grown adult to be sitting in there AT ALL.

besides cutting a little slit on the carpet around the rear speakers to fit the hooks, it was a piece of cake

I agree that the rear FC seats are horrible! Probably the worst rear seats out there in a car (pulsar maybe?).

The only reason I would want them is so that it's LEGAL to have a 3rd or 4th person in the car. Regardless if there is seats in the back or not, I am going to still carry an extra passenger at times... so might as well do it legally.

I tried having a third person in my car, but even sitting with their feet across both seats they were cramped, but i guess if yer friends dont mind then its all good. I personally found that since the rear seats are so deep, they were a perfect place to store my amplifiers, then when i fold the seat down the amps are perfectly hidden, so they do serve me some purpose.

Iread awhile back that there is next to nothing in difference, but i dont belive that.
I have rear seats in my 86 sport(factory), my nephews can barely fit in them they are 8 and 10 years old. BUT if you like theres seatbelts for three persons backthere , man i wouldnt sit in the middle

Ouch, now that would be cramped!
So is it legal just to swap in the seats or do you have to get it all inspected or anything?

Hell i dont know i live in Denmark and it comes like that from the factory, they are kindda neat though. I dont see why you would have to get them inspected, ill bet you that the chassis is allready prepped for belts and seats, but try and call the car-inspection office they should know stuff like that...Kim

My old parts car (RIP) was a gxl with the back seats and I had the pleasure of removing them to cut a hole in the floor to remove the front diff mount (which wasn't broken) from the cross member without the ability to raise the car enough to drop the subframe. (pain in the rectum!)

Moral of the story is that the rear seat is little more than apholstered foam. Very little added weight. If you really want a back seat, it won't sand bag you more than a 24 pack would in place of bare metal back there.
