sport seats
I have gotten several good leads on reasonable priced items for my 88 TII, can anyone get me to a company that has decent pricing on seat(s). I don't need (or can afford) Recaros, just some decent aftermarket seats. Thanks

Interested in responses here too as my vert seats are trashed. Will miss the headrest speakers though, so might try to find a way to fabricate them.
In the mean time, I did find this site which is kinda cool and has fairly reasonable prices.

I'm kinda partial to the Rave seats (1600 series) -- and I just saw that Summit sells them for like $350 / seat. Summit calls them "Scat Sport". If you look on Summit, compare part #s instead of names -- their names are different on a couple of the seat series.

I have just installed the DAD(Dynamic Auto Design)reclining racing seats in my 86 rx7 and i have to to say these are the most comfortable seats i have ever sat in. The seats are very supportive, i got 2 seats and 2 sliders for $340.00 plus S/H. if you are looking for seats for your rx7 get these, i swear they are Sparco Torino's but with a different name. GET THE D.A.D SEATS YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!!!

yeah, ive been considering those DAD seats, but want to know how others have mounted them, where did you get the brackets? and what the driving position is like as opposed to the stock seats,
I mean do you sit higher/lower/etc...

Anything is possible... How badly you want to make it happen is the deciding factor. (not trying to be a dick)
Mounting different seats isn't terribly difficult if you do some measuring before getting your heart set on a particular seat untill you're sure it will fit the hole you want to stick it in.
Measure the base footprint of the seat. Front width and rear width (usually different) then measure the track width of the sliders. (these will be parallel) If the Widest part of the seat is within an inch or so of the stock one you're golden. If its narrower then you might have some unsightly gaps to worry about when the new seat is installed. You also want to measure the thickness of the cusions and ride height (as someone mentioned) because this could become a factor in your choices. If you want to be as close to the ground you'll need to find a seat with the same or lower cusion profile as you had. You can also use this mod as a way to raise the seating position for better line of sight at the drivers seat. Make sure if you replace both seats to give them equal treatment. It looks really bad having one seat at a different height from the other.
You can easily make an adaptor bracket out of flat bar stock to attach a new seat to your factory sliders. I use 3/16" COLD rolled steel as it is much stronger than hot rolled bar stock. This is usually the best way to go seeing as most floors are where the funky contours are located and the factory slider is already attached to it. Be careful to center the seat on the track in the car rather than trying to make the track fit the slider. You also want to make your brackets a bit bigger than you think you'll need just in case you encounter fittment problems with the first go at it.
I've had seats that were centered perfectly and fitting great untill discovering the slight cross angle of the mounts and the straight on bolting I did from failing to mock up the brackets in the car and doing it from perfect 90's. The seat would slide out to the shorty position and hit the console.
There's the quick and dirty on seat swapping fabrication...
Hope it helps.
Also, I'd be game for a group buy on the corbeau forza's. I had one in my bimmer and loved it. Only problem is poor lumbar support for long trips, but "you" <read as wife, mom, or gf> can make all the funky cushions out of appolstery foam and then velcro them to the cover just like the expensive name brand ones.
Hell of a seat for the money, and the weight, all in an FIA approved package.

Yeah, Mine had the ricaro's too. Holy **** were those things HEAVY! Gotta love it when you can drop 100lbs from swapping seats.
FC seats are rather light so I'm holding out for a good deal on my sport seats. Not to mention having depleated the car fund with my new shocks and springs. (love the new suspension though)
