Thumbs up Swapping 88 N/A FOR 91 TII! is it worth it?

I have and 88 N/A and it smokes when I start it when i hold it at 4,000 RPM's..... A friend is going to sell me his engine, turbo, transmission, drive shaft, ECU, etc... Basically anything that i need that he has on his car. My question is this: Is there anything that i need to pay special attention too before i swap? How can i make the swap legal? If so, how much will it be to make it legal? How long would it normally take to do the swap?.....by the way i have all the tools necessary to do the Job (Uncle is a Certified Mechanic) I also have the haynes rx-7 bible and mazdatrix is just a couple miles away....thanx for the help!

You are doing 2 difficult things: Converting an NA to a TII, and swapping between series.

Differences in NA/TII:
Differential
halfshafts
transmission
driveshaft
clutch
pressure plate
flywheel
clutch slave cylinder
starter
ecu
engine wiring harness
dash wiring harness
fuel pump
boost sensor
instrument cluster
other piddly ****

Difference in Series IV and Series V cars:
Engine wiring harness
dash wiring harness
ECU
almost all sensors
AFM
instrument cluster
again, other piddly ****

In short, this is a difficult process (to change from an NA to a TII) even staying within the same "series" and making a hybrid between 2 series only compounds the problem. Hope you have a lot of time, patience, and experience... or $$$$$$$$$ to pay someone to do it.
