Swaping in T2 drive train into N/A block. Question.

I have a 91 N/A FC and i got a hold of a 1988 10th anny T2. Just for the drive train.

My question is since i need to buy a new clutch, flywheel n pressure plate etc.

What year should i buy them for?

I was looking to buy them from Racing beat, but should i be buying the 1986-92 clutch, flywheel n pressure plate etc. or the 89-92 clutch, flywheel n pressure plate etc.

Since its being bolted onto a S5 N/A block i'm confused which year i should buy.

Thanks in advance.

IF you're keeping the series 5 NA block, you must buy a series 5 turbo flywheel to go on it. The series 4 flywheel from the other car would throw your s5 engine out of balance. You always need a flyweel the same series as the engine you are running, and the same diameter as the drivetrain you want to run.

I happen to have a s5 turbo flywheel I'd sell for almost nothing, though it does appear to need resurfacing.

Everything else can be bought for an 87-91 turbo...clutches etc. are the same. Some catalogs show different part numbers for s4 and s5 clutches, but the fitment is actually the same. The only thing I can figure is that some manufacturers decided to make the clutch liner thickness slightly more so it would last a little longer.

IF you are thinking of going aftermarket flywheel:

Again you need the counterweight for your series of engine.

The FD flywheel will work on any 89+ engine using a turbo drivetrain. IT's about 1.5-2lb lighter than the FC flywheel.
