To swap a t2 tranny....what is required?

here's my current setup transmission wise
- S5 t2 motor
- Bonez light steel flywheel
- street/comp clutch with braided lines
- S4 factory LSD
- S5 transmission

I found a local s5 t2 tranny for a decent price of 175.

What do I need to make my t2 bolt in? Do i have everything that I need? Do I need the s5 turbo drive shaft? Thanks.

i think you need the t2 speedo cable, i'm in the process of swapping in a t2 transmition, and the part where the speedo cable plugs into the tranny is different. on the NA it's like a gear, and on the t2 it's a little rod. maybe i'm wrong.

You'll need the starter also, as long as either a custom driveshaft or one from Mazdatrix.com (TII to NA rear end, around $275). I beleive you also need the TII clutch ;o! Other then that I think you'll be fine, its a direct drop in.

Good luck!

you'll need a starter (I found one on ebay for $80.00 with 1 year warranty.)
You can keep the clutch and stuff you already have. The flywheel, clutch, p plate all need to match your engine, not the transmission. A turbo flywheel is a larger diameter. Meaning you would need a turbo clutch and p plate. But you can't just throw those on your engine because the counterweight would be different.
You also will need a t2 -> n/a driveshaft unless you plan on replacing your rearend with t2 gear.

Turbo II starter
Turbo to N/a drive shaft -or- get the full tii drivetrain
clutch slave cylinder
turbo sized flywheel
turbo sized clutch
proper counter-weight for your engine
pilot bearing
release bearing
get shifter bushings too for good measure, or at least check them out.
i'm not sure if you'll need the speedo cable or not, might just mount different.

racing beat has a clutch that allows you to use the na flywheel and na press plate.... which should mean you could sue the NA starter too

its a puck though...

heres the link

and you do NOT need a t2 speedocable

they are the SAME

so with that
just get your puck disk, t2 slave cylinder, xmember, and the driveshaft....
