suspention question

So my quetion is would it be okay to run cheap ebay coilovers on my Fc?

It's a stock body, gonna be putting a set of 17x7" wheels on, +20, I think, FWD offset (I know, but they look good and fit).

I figured if I used some decent adjustable shocks, AGX's probably, I could use them. But I'm used to Honda's, so I could be wrong. I've been told to use a good set of springs and just trim them to my height.

Also, I'm not much of a speed racer around town, I pretty much just like to cruise around slammed :-D So I don't really need the most effective or performance side of things, if I wanted that I'd get some real nice used 1-pc. dampeneing coilovers or something.

No

If you really want to 'slam' your car. Do some research and then figure out what you need to do.

I never understood why people like to cheap out on suspension. It's one of the most important things you can buy for your car and its definitely falls under the "you get what you pay for" category

It's always been pretty simple to get stiff, reliable suspention for a good price, when it's on an Integra lol.

Has anyone used them? I've heard positive feedback from an S5 owner who uses them now.

The cheap coilovers are fine as long as they are made well enough that they don't pose any safety issues. However, I'm not sure if those wheels will work very well.

KYB AGX struts are fine, and they are a common street/autocross level strut for these cars. Cutting springs is usually a bad idea. You may want to contact Ground Control. They make an AGX kit for the RX-7, and they may be able to help you with the spring selection for your car. Eibach ERS springs are available in many heights and compression rates so you don't need to worry about cutting them up.

Well, he obviously wants the look and could care less about performance. I have no problem with that. It is not like he is some shift mad quick yo video game drifter who thinks that Ebay coilovers are comparable to actual race coilovers. Geez, we get so many of those guys that it is actually refreshing to see somebody who isn't completely lost.

Well they are cheap enough for me to buy a set, I'll try em and see if they don't detonate lol. If all is well within 30 days then they're probably ok.

No driftin for me man, not that I don't like to watch, it's just killer on the wallet and I'm in college :-D

.....plus I suck :-P

I know Honda kids that have ran cheap coilovers for years with on problems besides the really stiff ride...If you are doing it for purely looks then you will be fine.

If you like to go through tires at an accelerated rate and are happy with horrible braking, handling, and ride quality then go for it.

You get what you pay for though.

Lol, I'm filipino/spanish :-)

But I look like a short white guy. Sound kinda like one too lol.

Yes it's purely for cosmetic appeal.

I have two Fc's, depending on the all around condition of the other one I may build it with a more track oriented vehicle in mind.

This one will just be low with a real wide stance, and I know it burns thru tires. But I get a steady supply of bridgestones for around 90 bux a pair, plus i don't really drive much, I ride my BMX B-)

I'll let you know how they feel when I get them and have them on.

lol, nice. I got pretty close to buying a bicycle a few weeks ago when both of my cars were down.

And you're NOT going to go through tires fast..the front end will probably gain less than -1* of camber and the rear will probably be about -3* unless you get a camber adjustable sublink (~$100) from flatout motorsports/Ground control and bring it back to ~-1

17x7 +20 will fit fine.

a +40 or higher is more of a FWD offset

I bought one of the adjustable subframe links before. I put it on the car and tried to fix the negative camber problem. It does not adjust both sides equally. One side would go positive and the other would stay the same. I played with it for a little while and then took it right back off.

I then bought the individual trailing arm links from mazdatrix. They do work as advertised unlike the subframe link.

I thought they were 20 offset, but they're actually 45 offset lol. But they still fit, clear the 4-pot's and look awesome. I'm gonna go purple on them I think unless I can find a decent trade for the set.
