Suspension Troubleshooting.

I've got an 87.5 GXL with the A.A.S. suspension of course. The system wasn't working when I bought the car, naturally, so I disconnected the actuators and turned the valving to my best guess on it's firmest setting by pushing down on that corner of the car, moving the valve, repeating until I figured it was the firmest valve setting.

I just managed to get another A.A.S. CPU to see if maybe that was the culprit behind the dead system, but it still isn't working.

To my knowledge, the things that make up the system are: Sensors, actuators, CPU, dampeners.

The actuators are just little electric motors, and I would staple my ******* to my leg if those were the problem.

The sensors could be it, but again, I doubt this one.

The shocks are fine.

I replaced the CPU.

So I'm going to guess that this CPU is probably dead as well? I got it from Indy Parts along with a Cruise computer. The cruise computer works great and the A.A.S. box doesn't look or smell like an electrical fire like my old one...

Thoughts on what could be the issue would be nice.

In another view, I'd like any information someone might have about which valve position is the firmest setting for the suspension. Turning the valve will never hit a stop, so it is probably multi-position.

All help greatly appreciated, especially on the valving.

P.S. Just to get it out of the way.... Yes, I do want my A.A.S. system to work. My previous cars had working systems, including one with recent A.A.S. shocks and I do like having the feature just to say "It works.". Eventually, I will replace them with KYB AGX, but that's quite a ways down the road when I can afford bushings and such.

if the old one smelt burnt, then chances are there is either a wasted motor or a pinched wire that is still shorting out.

You'll probably need to down load the FSM and check each wire coming from the unit, to where it runs too.

I'll look into it, but if it's that problematic then I may just forget it. However, do you have any clue as to the valving?

Staple your *******...? hmmm.

My 2 cents would be to get the actuators and AAS computer and somehow wire them up (while they're off of the car). Then just count the 'revolutions'
