What's your budget? Are you racing the car? Do you have any idea at all what you're doing?
I'm guessing not...just get a strut/spring setup. Search...there's a shitload of topics on this subject.

Yes, you can just use some mild quick-adjusting shocks/struts like KYB AGX, and the Eibach Pro-Kit progressive springs that only stiffen up when the car corners or brakes hard. I recommend changing out all of the 20 year old suspension bushings so that you do not damage your new suspension components due to worn/broken bushings. You have no need for coilovers based on your driving description.

If you don't care then just bolt in some solid struts.
A suspension that's always stiff is either poorly specced for the application or badly adjusted.
I mean really, think about it.
The job of the suspension is to absorb input and keep the tire on the road for the maximum amount of time.
"Race suspensions" are only "stiff" until the car reaches it's normal speed, then they should be very compliant. Watch a slomo of a F1 car and see how smoothly the tire reacts.
A street car has to react to much more varied conditions than a race car so it's generally much softer and reactive to low speed input.
Race tracks are more carefully groomed (yeah, there are exceptions) as well, so a race suspension doesn't need to be set up to deal with manhole covers and the typical crap pavement of the street.
In short, a "stiff" suspension isn't doing it's job and needs to be fixed.

thanks for all the input.
i think ill be leaning more towards something like a kyb/eibach setup/

There is a lot of sifting through crap because members such as yourself take this attitude towards searching.
What we would prefer that you do is search and find a thread on the subject. Then if you have more questions that are not covered in the thread address them in the existing thread.
That way we finally wind up with a very informative thread.
