How do I compress my rear calipers?

How do I compress my rear calipers?

I am trying to compress my rear calipers and they wont compress all the way. What do I need to do to compress them all the way?

Clockwise. Lefty loosie, righty tightie.

You'll need a special tool to turn the piston to get it flush. Go down to autozone/kragen/napa and tell the person down there your issue and i'm sure they'll have it in stock for less than $10.

It's a cube looking thing that goes on the end of your socket wrench that allows you to turn it. The haynes manual says to use some needle nose pliers but that hardly ever works.

I've never used a "Special Tool" on RX7 rear brakes or any other rear disc. They are all like that. Just find something that fits in the groove and turn the piston. You might have to press inward. I've seen them backed out so far from people ignoring them that the threads have become disengaged.

I have one of those, it really makes the process alot easier. Make sure you apply pressure on on the ratchet to prevent it from slipping out of the slots on the piston.

If the calipers are in good shape, needle nose pliers work. If the calipers are old and stiff, the special tool is much better.

Common pair of pliers in the slots. Turn Clockwise. Just did this two days ago. See the FSM next time you install new pads. It's written.
