Suspension question that anyone can answer

Ok, need to know if my suspension is shot, or just really really stiff

Go to your grandma;s, dad, uncle, girlfriend, (whoever) and sit on their front fender. What was the suspension travel? Couple inches probably.

Now do the same to your seven. any travel?

My front suspension has zero travel with downward force, but I can pull it up about 1/2 inch.

Just curious if the springs/shocks are shot to hell or if the car is always this stiff.

Coincidentaly, the rear suspension has about 3/4 travel.

My FC has very little, Id say it moves maybe 1/2" when I press down, but that is with my aftermarket setup.

normally the suspension is pretty stiff.

if it gave in like your grandma's car then it would handle like your grandma's car.

it would also help to know the model, does it have the sport adjust suspension button?

is the equipment stock or aftermarket?

I would check the amount of play but my neighbor just yelled at me for sitting on his car

Sounds like ur in good shape. Jack up the corner of the car, pull the wheel and get in there a dig around. Rust, crap, etc. probably will be a symptom of a problem.

heh, i've probably got close to 30 hours wrench time starting at the botom of my car, no joke. I knocked at least a pound of rust off my car last winter when we did the tranny swap. The front of the car was always pretty clean though. The calipers look alright. The rear calipers used to be rusted tight though. Otherwise, rust is what you expect for a 13 year old car in an area where they spread road salt.

It also depends how heavy you are and if you're jumping on the corner.&nbsp I weigh closer to 250#, so if I SIT on one corner (stock suspension), the corner sags a good 3 inches.

Blown shocks would not control the up-and-down motion.&nbsp Push down hard on one corner and it should only go up and then come back down.&nbsp If it starts to bounce more than than, the shocks are bad.
