Go to my website, link is in the sig. As for picking one up, mine might be for sale. My oil seals are leaking bad, time for a rebuilt motor, but I'm not sure if I want to go through with it. (Long story) Make sure you check out the links page.

Question....

Is the supercharger the cause(or a cause) for the engine damage? I always wondered what a SC will do to an N/A. Also, what kind of gains did it give you...I was thinkin of goin SC in the future. Thanks.

Hey Chuck,
If your gonna get your engine rebuilt...get your SC rebuilt at the same time. I'm gonna get my SC rebuilt right now cuz the bearings have started making noise. I assume that I've put probably 50k miles (4years) on the SC now....so it was about due for a tune up! I haven't talked to Paxton yet but I'll let ya know the costs soon.

Infini - definitely let me know. You might want to check into what upgrades they have for the blower, Streetpower claims to have had his sc upgraded http://hometown.aol.com/s3tpwr/SUPERII.html to 17psi. I sent him an email to get details, but he never responded.

The other thing to consider is resizing the pulley, so you don't overspin the sc. Did you ever take care of that?

Chris - I doubt that the supercharger is the cause of the failure; I put the blower on a motor that had 142,000 miles on it, and drove it to 166,000 miles before this problem occurred. Its my daily driver in NYC, home of potholes that eat Ford Fiesta's for breakfast, and there aren't that many cars around here with that kind of mileage that aren't breaking something.

Question Gains?

What kind of gains do SCs give you?And at what RPMs? Do other mods make those gains better? Thanks.

The sc is claimed to give a 40% increase in hp on a completely stock motor. Normally, the 86-88 series would be putting ~120hp to the wheels, so you'd end up with about 170hp with just adding the blower. Freeing up the intake and exhaust help a great deal, but you also will need more fuel. With a cone filter, header, high flow cat, cat back, 550cc/min secondary injectors and upgraded fuel pump, I was putting down 210hp at the wheels. And this is on the factory computer, so if you were to invest in something to tune it with, you could probably pick up a few more ponies.

I don't race much but I've had no problems with either Integras or Mitsu's that were stock. Remember, those motors are putting around 200hp at the crank, there's typically a 15-20% loss of power to the wheels.
