Super Duper Boost Creep

So yea. S5 turbo block. S4 NA Rotors. Stock S5 Turbo w/ ported waste gate. Stock Top mount. 3" single exhaust. No silly cats. Standalone with fuel to spare. 15psi boost creep!!!! in 90deg weather...

how is this thing still alive? lol. The thing is ridiculously quick for what it is. And I know the obvious answer is to man up and buy a real turbo... and a real wastegate.

My question to you is... what would you do in the meantime? park it... take it easy... beat the pi$$ out of it and enjoy it?

its got a stand alone and fuel to spare, if its tuned to reach the 15 psi, go for it.

mine is stock waste gate and regularly hits 11 psi. i just call it a day and tune for it.

Did you back-cut the wastegate runners when you ported it? Or did you just open up the hole at the flapper door?

well its fixed. and terribly slow now. The story is i put exhaust on it, then pulled the manifolds off to seal them up better and to fix some boost leaks... put it all back together and it was much slower than before... then a couple days later the car started getting quicker and quicker.. when it started hitting 11lbs i attributed it to boost creep. when it started hitting 15lbs i got worried and started looking around. turns out the the nipple from the front of the stock compressor that goes to the wastegate blew out of the compressor housing. the car was running with no wastegate. :/

Anyway it now holds 7 lbs.. and is terribly slow. It was pretty quick at 15lbs and high compression rotors tho, too bad I didnt iphone dyno it :/

I think I'm having the same problem. When I put my turbo on, I forgot that vacuum hose. Then I put it back on.... But it's still hitting 13-14 PSI. Unported wastgate + stock tune.... Surprised **** hasn't blown yet.

I heard that you have to mess around with the CPU because of the aftermarket down pipe. I heard if it's not stock something will go wrong. Is that right?

Well, putting in an aftermarket downpipe will give you boost creep. high boost means more fuel.
The stock ecu doesnt control fuel so well at boost higher then stock so you will need some way to fine tune the fuel.

You can't mess with the ECU in it's stock configuration. You either need to get a piggy back fuel controller like an apexi SAFC, or get a chip in it so you can tune it like the Rtek system. Or you can go with a stand alone ECU. Then you can add more fuel since you're getting more boost (more air.)

only 15 psi with the wastegate unhooked? sounds like you have some boost leaks.
