sunroof and window problems, please help

i have two problems:

first, the passenger side power window won't go up sometimes. could it be the switch or the motor? most of the time i can wait a little while and it will work.

second, my sunroof will not open from the closed position on its own power. i have to push the button to open it and help it with my hand, then i have to roll it back with an allen wrench about 2 inches before the motor can open it

can anyoine help me diagnose the problem(s)?

first)
hmm... need more info. Do you hear the motor running. Is the switch goofy, etc..

second)
sunroof tracks & mechanisms need cleaning & lubing.

Do a search for "sunroof" in the "2nd gen" and "2nd gen archive" sections for more details.

for the windows, all i hear is the click of the switch, and then a few minutes of waiting allow me to roll up the windows. sometime 30 seconds, sometimes 10 minutes

i have already lubed and cleaned all of the tracks and everything for the sunroof. could it be the motor or a solenoid or anything?

Easy Fix

I just fixed both the switches on my 87 GXL. Pop the switches out and disconnect them. Take both inside and put some paper down on the table. Take them apart really slow trying not to break the plastic. You'll see that there are contacts and a little thin metal piece that contacts them. Both of the little metal pieces will fall out when you take them apart. Take a small flat-head screwdriver and scrape the contacts clean. They will be charred black probably. Put them back together and plug them back in. I also bought some silicone spray and sprayed the track down the middle of the window and all the black stuff that the edges run through. My windows move up and down super fast now.
