sunroof question (searched)

i have an 86 sport, came with no sunroof, with red interior, and have access to a sunroof off an 87 gxl, with mint headliner. im wondering how much work it would take to swap, bodywork wise. i searched and found nothing about a swap.

any info would be appriciated.

I wouldn't if I were you. Leave it as is. If you want a sunroof, sell your car and buy a FC that has one.

Another thing to consider is... if you don't do it right, it might leak... that kind of thing might be a PITA to fix.. Definately not worth it. Sunroofs are cool and all, but the are heavy. I rarely use mine except in certain non-rainy, non-AC months. Even then.... the windows are fine.

i would not try to put a used sun roof in a car {any car} the best after market sunroof company is webasto and if its a power roof you have to think about the motor the track and the wiring also factory suroofs have drain tracks for water which you wont have huge potential for leaks if you really want one go after market on this one profesionally installed w/ a warranty
just my 2 cents

You could just chop the roofs and swap them if you were ballsy enough to do it ^ ^ but I agree I wish mine didnt have one.

ok, as far as body work goes, just the body work, Aka rolling the edges around the new cut hole, painting priming again where you have to cut ya da ya da, is a bitch, then you have to retro fit all the old mounts witch you car dosent have, then make drain lines for all the water to go, get power up there wire it in, get it lined up, then your track might not work anyway. TO be honest i wish my car didnt have a sunroof. if you want a sunroof go after market, but you liking at about 1000, to do it. well thats for a good one, around wis.

From past experience w/ T-tops.. if your going to do it, the way to go is swap the entire roof.. it takes a little bit of work, but your seals will be as good as if it came from the factory that way..
