sunroof
Ok do some sun roofs just pop open and not move back or do they all move back? I was toying with mine today(never wokred) and got it to open but it only pops up. And the right side goes all the way up and left side just kinda half way goes up. Do i need to clean the rails? How do i take off the sun roof? If im manually opening the sun roof with a allen wrench. is there another thing i have to toy with to make it slide back or do i not have a slide back option?

You do not have to remove it to clean it.
1.Get to a high pressure air hose and blow out as much crud as possible. Be prepared to vacuum the inside from all the debris that will end up there.
2. Spray in WD-40 with the extention tube as far back as you can reach and let it sit a bit.
3. Remove as much of the WD as possible using Q itps and rags. Repeat step2 2 & 3 several times.
4. If it will not open on its own with a tap/push from inside, have a friend pull back evenly as you hit the switch and push from under neath. Unless one of the cables is frayed/broken this should pop it open.
5. Continue steps 2 & 3 removing as much as possible.
6. Use a spray white lithium lube to absorb the WD as you did in steps 2 & 3. Repeat until the lithium is clean. You do not want to lube with WD. It attracts and holds dirt and dust.
7. Spray the lithium very lightly to lube the tracks and pivots.
This worked for me on a sunroof that only opened about 1 1/2 inch.

trust me,it would not be easier to take it out,you would not believe how many things you have to take out to get it out. if anything, you could pull it open a little, and pull the inside interior cover, and take the sunroof panel off, then itll be easier to get to the rails. you can search my user name and find tons of **** on this subject,i went through this, was a broken cable, searched about 10 junkyard cars before i found a good one

I have a similar problem. My sunroof just won't pop up or pop down without my intervention. It makes a clicking noise. It slides back and forth just fine without me touching it though... What should I do?

isnt it unreal how many sunroofs were not taken care of??
I had to regrease mine, clean it, several times for it to work right.
we should kick previous owners in the a$$ for that! (and other crap they did to the car)
