Sun roof won't go down - need QUICK response, rain!!

Just got home and my damn sunroof will not go down. It gets to the point where it should shut, where's the back of it is propped up, but won't make the final push. I've tried manual closing it, but it won't budge past that point. I'm looking through my Haynes manual to see if there's anything about taking the sunroof apart so I can just lay the thing close now, but if anyone has some info or run into this before I could sure use the help. Weatherman is talking rain tonight and tomorrow, and clouds are on the horizon as I type.

Thanks

try pulling it down a little bit while you hit the button, super common on FCs to need a little help with the roof operation

There should be an emergency hand crank that you can get an allen wrench on.

if everything else fails you could always tape the gap so rain doesnt get in and then mess with it in the AM when it stopped raining

sunroofs suck, at best, they're a heavy *** leak that just hasn't happened yet.

I had that same problem. One of the cables that retracts the sunroof snapped, so one side would try to close but the other would just drag and get stuck. Apparently no one sells just the cable (cuz that would make too much sense) so you have to get a whole new assembly to fix the problem.

Someone should create a permanent sunroof delete kit that utilizes a stock sunroof panel and a bracket that mounts to the sunroof mounting points allowing you to ditch the heavy and failure prone assembly.

you can manually put the tracks back in place and bolt the roof panel back on and leave the roof disabled.

I actually leave mine popped up (not slid back) pretty much all the time. Every time it rains it never gets water inside. There are drain tubes on each side to carry away any collected water. They run down each A-pillar behind the trim panels.

I had one get stuck once... Same situation, rain incoming.
It'd slide back and forth but never close properly.
I tried pushing down on both corners and in the middle. It never worked.

To go down, actually it needs to rock FORWARDS a few millimeters while pushing the close button. Try giving it a tap forwards before you push it down.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I'm still not sure what is going on with it. I tried manually cranking it close yesterday, but it's stopping about an 1/8 inch to where it should close then pop down. It actually looks like its getting stuck at the guides on the outsides. The two black pieces that move something ( i can't see what ) towards the outside of the car. I tried lithium grease today, but still no luck. I'll be messing with it again tomorrow, and if no luck, it's going into the shop on monday. I have no choice unfortunately, here in Philly we've had 2 dry days all month, damn rain never stops.
