Summers Tune-up

So i put the Rex together for this summer...alot of hours has gone by this winter working on it and too my own eyes...it seems ive done nothing haha. There`s a few issues id like to adress before i go taking the car out and wreck it or the engine when it could have been avoided

Knock Sensor: I think i have a vague idea of what knock sensors do and too me it seems that you want as little knock as possible in your engine? See the video below....the Knock value is represented as a horizontal bar second from the bottom, the car has always shown these figures and ive been driving like this for 2 years...im surprised my sh*t hasnt caught fire .... :S VIDEO BELOW

Wouldnt the ramifications already have been disastrous if its correct? I`ve driven like for 2 years almost.....oh..one of the engines mounting bolts is kinda loose and the engine is tumbling around abit mroe than normal, this doesnt affect the knock reading does it? And also...what SHOULD have happened by now if the reading is correct?

I'm sure the Apexi Power FC ECU will retard timing if the knock starts to go too crazy.... hopefully... And yes, a loose engine mount can cause knock reading. All a knock sensor is, is a crystal with a wire attached to it. When a crystal is vibrates at a certain frequency, it makes electricity. When electricity is applied to it, it vibrates at a certain frequency. Sort of like if you apply voltage to a motor, it spins, but when you spin it, it creates electricity. Weird, huh? Magic crystals n' ****.

Anyways, if the engine banging around creates that right frequency (which it can, I've seen it), it'll register knock.

The power FC does not retard timing in the event of knock. the only thing it does with the knock input is displays it. The stock ECU retards timing with knock. When you install the PFC in a FC you are supposed to remove the connector from the "knock box" and splice into the knock input on that wire.

Maybe I was confused on what the Power FC actually is. I thought it was a standalone that had a little display thing on it?

no. thats the commander. its a handheld programmer. the ecu doesnt look great. just like a regular ecu. this thingamabob connects to it so you can see a readout.

What im showing u is only the PFC "Joystick"...the PFC itself (mine came from a track-tuned FD) looks just as grey and boring as the rest...

Have you had your car professionally tuned?

That knock reading is quite funny and interesting. Be sure not to completely trust the commander. Especially RPM and boost/vacuum readings.

PRo and pro....id like too think so yeah as it was an experienced Japcar Auto Shop that did the map...its only a basemap i think thou.

Anyone know how much or how many inches i can lift the engine from under with a jack? I need too change the right engine mount (viewed from driver seat ) since the bolt has apparently broken in the middle but im guessing the engine is puttting just enough weight on it so that i cant pull em out OR....the bolt has simply fused with the rubber and thats why it is stuck...
