yea i guess that is what i will do seeing how i dont want it sliding around my trunk on windy roads and stuff. That and im not sure that the bondo and all the other stuff would hold up to a 3000watt+ woofer that i might eventually get. Plus carpet is just lighter

hmmm you dont want to use your spare wheel space to create a custom sub box? if you take out your spare wheel, there is all kinds of unused space.

some people might rip me a new one for saying this

I've got an 88 vert & it was very simple for me to get 2 12" Kicker L5's in my car. I just removed the spare tire from under the rear deck & droped a 31" sealed box in the space. The tire mount will have to be removed but that's simple enough just break the welds. I took mine to a local body shop & the guy had it out in 2 min. Then I relocated the spare to the space in the trunk just in front of the license plate it fits perfectly. There was even enough space behind the box to build an amp board for 2 Audiobahn Amps. I'm now in the process of fabricating a fiberglass & MDF box to house 2-12" 2-10's & 4-6 1/2 " seperates that will actuall allow me to use my rear cargo cover again to hide my gear.

As a former stereo installer in my opinion having a bigger cap is always going to be better, regardless of wattage. The surge from a cap is a very small fraction of that as opposed to a good batterys surge, but as a rule of thumb from Crutchfield,
.5 farad for systems up to 500 watts
1.0 farad for systems up to 1000 watts
2.0 or more for larger.

Here's what I ran on a stock alternator & an Absolute CAP808
8.0 Farad digital power capacitor with everything on Lights, AC, Stereo & car @ idle without one flicker of the lights

2 12" Kicker DVC L5's
2 Audiobahn A8002V 400Watts RMS X2 @ 2ohms
1 Audiobahn A6004V 600Watts RMS X4 @ 4Ohms
2 Audiobahn 6.5" Seperates 240Watts @ 4Ohms
2 CerwinVega 4" 2ways 120Watt @ 4Ohms
JVC Head Unit
Pioneere Digital Sound Processor
2 150W Fog Lamps

I'll post one later. If you lift up the carpet in the trunk you'll see the space directly behind the license plate. Trust me it fits
