Subs In rear strut towers (I have read all 32 threads)

I posted this in the audio/interior section but got no real responce. So here might be a good bet.

Ok, I read the 32 Threads based on this subject.
Now I want some objective opinions.
I have read every post by Icemark, and he is a very knowlegable guy on the subject, Now he says I won't be able to get anything shy of 40hz. So I would like to offer a few examples of subs.
Now what I know from reading.
That the volume of each tower is 0.19 - 0.23 Cubic Feet.
And that is even less with the sub in there.
Now my question is, would it be at all possible to extend the length (height) of the shock towers by building some rings and extending the fiberglass to increase the volume slightly?
Or to invert the subs and setup the head unit and the amp respectively to improve volume and sound?

Ok I have a few different subs in mind These are all very expensive but I am sponsored so these would not be too terribly expensive to use so lets ignore their cost.

Focal 5 3/8" Sub
http://www.focal.tm.fr/gb/car/utopia/5ws.htm

Focal 8" Sub
http://www.focal.tm.fr/gb/car/polyg...e%20HP/21V2.pdf

Focal ~5" Sub
http://www.focal.tm.fr/gb/car/k2power/13ks.htm

JL 8" Sub
http://www.jlaudio.com/subwoofers/8W7.html

Now would any of these produce the extra bass required to make my car sound better.. I right now have Boston Pro 6.5's In the rear with seperate Tweeter
and Boston Pro 5.5's in the doors. So there are good speakers and the Head Unit is Pioneer Premier DEH-P760MP.
The Amp will be Audisson.
Now I just want some better sounding low frequency in my car. But I don't want to make my car a target for theft (already has been vandalized twice). Nor do I want to sacrifice the little room there is. I already tried custom making sealed boxes where the bins are and it sounds like ***.

Like I mentioned Earlier I don't want to Really FEEL the base like most like to rattle their cars appart. I want sound quality more than anything as you can see by the components that are already in my car and the components I am planning to put in my car.

So any and or all suggestions comments (good or bad) as long as they are constructive would be great!
I just don't want to announce what I have to theifs
I just don't want to sacrifice the little room there is in our cars.
I want to keep a stock Clean look
I want to add to the quality of sound in my car with some lower Frequencies.

Thank You
Jeffrey

inverting the subs to save cubic footage inside the tower is a great idea, but the hatch and hatch struts may come too close. also, that blows away the effort to keep a stock look.

reading the other threads, you must have seen posts about browbread and other soundproofing materials. beefing up the insulation in the doors may improve sound quality enough to satisfy you, and it will definitely let you run more low end from the door speakers without rattling anything.

sorry I can't say more, good luck.

for SQ.. my poor boy solution was to use RTV and seal off every sound box and loose tHING i could find in the front of the car. worked great.. specailly cuz im rockin audiobahn in the front. im missing my rear tower covers/speakerboxes, so maybe were in the same boat. have you considered taking out the speakerbox and mounting a couple rings of MDF for the subs? thatll give you larger options and make the system bigger.

from what I remember, the top of the speaker tower is pretty close to the hatch, i don't think extending the tower would work, you wouldn't be able to get that much more space, same with inverting the speaker. One thing you could try is to find a more shallow 8" and custom make angled mdf rings to extend the speaker towers, do you know what I mean? Angle it to allow the maximum space the hatch will allow. I'm not sure how much more space you'll get out of that, but that's the best bet if you're intent on using the speaker tower.

If you want SQ, and you're using a nice amp like Audison, try custom making a box in the back corner of the trunk. I have one like that, built right to spec for a single JL10W6, it's sweet, I can still access my spare tire well and everything, and almost no loss in trunk space and looks stock. And it sounds good
