The buzzer is going off because there is Air in the system. It indicates that the level of coolant is Low.That Buzzer Saves engines
Check the coolant.Start the car Without the Rad cap on,If it Gushes out like a Fountain then the engine's coolant seals are done.
If you can get the Car to Burp the air out then fill it up with coolant as much as possible, and Cap the rad.
Go for a drive and make sure the coolant level is OK,and that the Overflow hose and its Path are Ok.
Once you get the car Back home(after a small drive and the Gauge is above COLD) shut it down.Wait until it cools off, check the coolant. It should be OK.IF the Buzzer is stil going off,Try this.leave the car on an incline, with the front of the car UP,and the rear down,RAD cap OFF,to see if the air wil work itself out on it's own,.,
IF the Gauge has read OK(like a third to Half) all this time and the fluids seem to be Topped up,and the Buzzer STILL goes off, then you have a Faulty Coolant level sender(that is the one on TOP of the rad.)..I hope that Helps.STYX>

You are going to laugh but I saw someone thing their coolant system was bad when what had happened was their coolant level sensor had become disconnected.

1) Make sure coolant level sensor is plugged in!
2) Make sure coolant level sensor is working!

If these do not solve the problem, then start to look for bigger issues!

Take it back to the mechanic who charged you twice what it should have cost to fix the pump, and say "It's still broken".

It's highly likely that there are air bubbles in the system from not being bled properly. Or the sender is bad. Test procedures are in the FSM.

yeah as they said the system probably needs to bleed to get the air out, it's a pretty common problem, definitely take it back to the mechanic.
and if it's been awhile since you last flushed the coolant system you might wanna do that as well.

get a 2 litre coke bottle and cut the bum out of it (the end it sits on) then poke the nozzle of the bottle into the radiator filler spot and use electrical tape and keep going around and around up and down filler/bottle assembly until its water tight.
then fill system with coolant until its half way up the bottle and start/run the car. then as the fluid drops just keep it around half way up the bottle. this is called "burping" the system.

keep doing it until the car gets warm.

then let it sit for a while with the engine off and do it again..

done

22 years means it must be an '87.

...First, I would take it back to who ever worked on it.

If you want to do this your self, it's not a hard task but can be time consuming getting all ther air out. You can make a bottle like the other poster said (I have a pupose made funnel for bleeding cooling systems) and use it in the manner he's advised. You'll want to open any air bleed screw/plug with the funnel full, and wait for the coolant to flow out steadily, then seal it. I beleive there's a screw on the filler neck, and one on the radiator of my 87 Turbo.

My car's engine has bad coolant seals and when running, will push coolant in to the expansion resevoir, and slowly starve the engine of coolant. I drove my car like this for about two months and kept a close eye/ear on the buzzer and filled the system when I stopped.

I will say one of the more obdvious symptoms was the immense amount of white smoke after a hot start (if I didn't use the releif tab on my radiator cap).
Seeing how you just had the system service, it would be a crappy coincidence that your coolant seal(s) have been destroyed. Good Luck
