Stupidity at it's best.

Hey guys, i've been collecting some questions for quite some time... i figure if I ask them all at once, i could only get bashed once for being so stupid.

What is a crank case?
How do you distinguish between the leading coils and the trailing coils?
How do you distinguish between the leading plugs and the trailing plugs?
Where's the CPU?
Where's the ECU?
How long does it take to resolder the CPU joints?
On a scale of 1-10, how stupid am I?

Thanks!!
-Ross

well if its the same as my 90 GTU then the leading coils are going to be near the front of the car, and the leading are going to be closer to the windsheild on the drivers side, then you can just follow the wires to find the leading and trailing sparks, im not sure about those. And sorry but i dunno about the rest of your questions im still kinda new to these.

There is no "crank case" on a rotary. We use it to relate parts on a rotary to those on a piston engine. The trailing coil is the ignitor on the innerfender on the driver's side, closest to the headlights. The leading, is closest to the driver. The CPU is located next to your right foot, on the driver's side. The ECU is located under the carpet, at the passenger's feet, under a protective panel. The resoldering sould take like 30 minutes, if you are good with a soldering iron. The best way to not feel so stupid, is to buy a Haynes manual, or go to www.fc3s,org, look under "Manuals" and download the factory serive manual!!
EDIT: THe trailing plugs are on top, the leading are on bottom. When you hold them in your hand, the trailing have a blue line on them, the leading plugs do not.

**What is a crank case?
another term for a piston engine crankshaft area

**How do you distinguish between the leading coils and the trailing coils?
They are labeled. (L1 / L2) & (T1 / T2) on the coils

**How do you distinguish between the leading plugs and the trailing plugs?
They are labeled. (L / T)

**Where's the CPU?
Driver side at the left ankle area, just next to the dead pedal.

**Where's the ECU?
Passenger side at the top back of the foot area, Under a plate.

**How long does it take to resolder the CPU joints?
How long would it take you to glue 100 BBs to a 3x5 card?

**On a scale of 1-10, how stupid am I?
you can go from zero to hero in one night by downloading and reading this:

Cool cool. on a side note, I'm still on the Marvel Mystery oil. Where else does it go other than in the gas tank??
And the CPU... where is it located again? Under the dash?? Under the carpet?? Beside the stereo??

The leading coil is up front by the battery and the trailing is nearer to the driver. And they are marked with L1, L2.

Plugs go like dis:

T1 ----- T2

L1 ----- L2

Oh and; making an NA into a turbo is preaty hard and everything has been discussed before so you can find it in old posts.

You my freind are a bright enough individual to come out and ask a question. Stupid people are the ones who don't want to know.

I was thinking, what if you folded up the edges of the card, sprayed it with adhesive and poured the BBs in and got em all down. Let it dry, 25 minutes tops.

Someone is posting wrong information here.

According to the 88 shop manual, leading is by the headlight, trailing by the driver. (section 5-2)

was just going to point out the two disagreeing points... but then thought I might as well do something more useful and look it up so I found it in the FSM and added what was there.
