alrighty, my car has been doing this for awhile now and i just never asked, but, when my car is not warmed up and i the engine goes to about 3k rpm or more it starts to make a crackling/ticking stupid annoying weird noise

forgot to mention its an 87 t2 with 93k miles on it

 

fan slapping the shroud? where is the noise coming from exactly?

 

mine used to do that too... then it corrected itself... weird, huh? Its like a cross between the sound of detonation and the sound of a rev limiter. I wonder if it runs real lean with the sub-zero starting assist thang?

 

id go with what DEZERTE says. soudns like the problem

 

no because its only when im driving and the car is warming up, after its warmed up it doesn't do it at all
