Stupid stupid fuel injection question.

When I first got my Rx7 I had this fuel leaking from the primary injection seals. Being the brilliant person that I am, I decided that while I was getting new seals I would also get new fuel injectors.

Of course, I was like, " I need the biggest fuel injectors ever! ARGHHHHWAAARGHWAH!"

I put them in and the car would start, with a little trouble.

Then I rebuilt my engine and now the car is very very difficult to start. Even now with close to 10,000 miles on the rebuild. The trick I have to use is simple. Go crank her over for about a minute. Go back inside the house for about fifteen minutes, then try again and she starts up fine. Once she's warmed up its starts just fine and is good for the day.

So now, I'm not so sure that getting oversized injectors was the brightest idea. And was wondering something.

On start up, are all four injectors open or just the primary injectors? Because I'm thinking about replacing the aftermarket injectors with the OEM ones. But if I have a fundamental start problem, I would really hate to just tear the intake off, do the job, and have the same problem.

Put your secondaries in the primary spot so you'll have stockers, then put the bigger ones in the secondaries. The primaries start and run the engine, and secondaries come on above 4krpms when you're driving.

What size injectors did you buy?
Do you have an NA or TII?

Um, sorry I didn't specify that I replaced all 4 injectors But that's a good suggestion because that's what I'm beginning to think is the problem, too much fuel at start up.

I believe that I got 4300 CC and they're rebuilds from RC engineering. I got the maximum inj. volume for an 87 nonturbo.

Sometimes I get carried away. I was so stoked on fuel I forgot one very important thing.

AIR! and um, Mixture.

LOL!

Seeing as how stock NA injectors are 460 cc and stock turbo are 550cc, I doubt you got 4300 cc.

Okay, good to know that I don't have nealy 5 times the ammount of Inj....Yup its doubtful. But I got them three years ago.

Anyway, I got the maximum flow rate alotted for an 87n/a.

The car actually doesn't foul the plugs and runs awesome when it finally starts

4300cc??? Surely not. You'd think that RC would ask you why you want the highest flowing injector, but maybe they don't care, they just want $$.

The 460cc stock NA injectors are fine for well over 200HP.

you may have a leak between the throttle body and the MAFS, try there.
