whats the diffrence between short block and long block??? isint the 13b turbo engines all the same size??

 

Well, when dealing with piston motors a short block is just the bottom half of the motor; block, crank, pistons, etc. A long block is including the cylinder head(s), and sometimes manifolds, depending.

 

It depends on who you're talking to...

"Short block" is usually "bare engine" - no manifolds, no auxiliaries, etc.
"Long block" is usually a complete motor waiting to be installed.

*I* normally call a "short block" complete with everything under the front cover and oil pan bolted on + flywheel.

I have always defined a short block as the engine block itself. with no manifold, alt, flywheel, oil pan ect.
