stupid key way on oil pump

i would just like to for the record, that by far the hardest and most frusterating task in rebuilding a rotary is getting that goddamn sproket on the oil pump.

if any one ever has any trouble with this, i reccomend unbolting the pump instaling the sproket with the pump in your hand, then wraping the chain arround both sprockets and drop all into place.

The only way I've ever put one on was both sprockets at the same time with the chain on. Tighten the 4 10mm bolts. Done.

Yeah, I learned this from hIGGI - take the oil pump off as one unit without taking the sprocket off!

Clean the groove and the key with solvent.
Use threadlocker to keep the key in place.
Try that.

I superglued the key on mine. If you decide to superglue here are some tips:

Purchase medium weight superglue from a hobby store.
Purchase small bottle of superglue accelerator

Put a couple of small drops in the keyway slot and spray the accelerator on the key. The accelerator will instantly cure the superglue. Do not get any superglue on your fingers since the accelerator and glue together will cause a nice burn from the heat of the reaction.

Acetone (most nail polish removers) can be used to undo superblue bonds and get the crap off of your fingers.
