Stupid #*$& Factory Alarm!
Ok. I have had it with the factory alarm.
I bought my RX seven months ago and the doors would "beep" when I locked them. But, I reached through the window for two weeks while my driver's door handle was broke. (now replaced) The alarm never went off.
Three weeks ago. A friend parked next to my car in the parking lot and had his 2 15" subs hitting extremely loud and managed to set off the alarm. Low and behold that I have one!
Now, the stupid thing goes off when I am talking too loud five feet from the car. It will be set off by anything.
Over the past weekend, the alarm went off so many times while I was gone with a friend, that the battery was stone dead when I got back.
Today, I tore into the dash and unplugged the whole alarm puter.
My question, after much rambling, is:
Are any of the wires in the plug running to the alarm puter important to anything else? I haven't driven the car yet, have class to go to, will post results of any of my findings later.
Do I need to splice any wires together to avoid problems w/o the alarm hooked up? I could care less about the alarm working, just want everything else to.

You unplugged the computer box next to the passenger in-dash speaker, right? If so, no worries.
The reason you car alarm never went off was because it wasn't activated. Even though it beeps when you put the interior lock down, you have to hold the outside handle up when closing the door to activate the alarm. Also, the only way to deactivate the alarm is to unlock the door from the outside with the key.
The AE used mirophones to detect window breaking. If you leave a window or sunroof open and the alarm active, a breeze can trigger the alarm. It might be the same on the other FC stock alarms.

ah, withe the factory alarm unplugged you will need to jumper the factory starter kill under the hood near the drivers side firewall, before the car will start.

Ok. I didn't jump anything and my car starts and appears to run fine. So, no big worries for me!
Never have I lifted the handle when shutting my door to lock it. For some reason, not sure if all FC3S are like this, but mine doesn't have the "Mazda trick" of lifting the handle or else the door doesn't lock.
My doors are just like a standard domestic's doors. Lock from the inside, slam door, slap forehead because keys are still in the ignition!

I've never had probs with my alarm going off on my 90 GTU. though I am under the impression that if the alarm is set off then it makes the car unstartable. (or so he manual claims).

The lifting the handle or locking with the key is the only way to arm the alarm, I believe AETurbos comments are telling you how to arm the alarm, not how to close the door.

yeah. I figured that. But my alarm arms without holding the handle up.
I am wondering if someone decided to "fix" that like they tried to fix other things on the car.
Previous owner shouldn't have owned an RX. He needed a Camaro or something else that is a dime a dozen car so it wouldn't be missed or make me feel bad for my RX because of its previous abuse.
