Stuck Apex Seal
Alright so heres the story. I flooded my engine all to hell.. Turned it backwards with the trailing plug out and a ton of gas came out of the rear rotor.. I put oil in the plug holes and crank it over for 10 seconds.. then go to start it.. Doesn't start.. Check compression.. compression is fine on all 6 faces..
Put more oil in the plug holes and try to start it again.. And after a few repeats of this process I can hear 2 faces aren't getting good compression. Pull the plug on the rear rotor and sure enough 2 faces aren't getting good compression.
Now I pull the exhaust manifold off and turn the engine over to the point where the bad apex is accessible from the exhaust port.. And it feels intact (from what I can feel from the exhaust port opening).. Only thing is it doesn't budge if I put pressure on it (and I know it should have some give because I just walked over to another short block engine I have and did the same thing and I got about a half mm of give when I pushed on the seal).. I'm kinda thinking its just stuck but I want a second opinion about it before I go pull the motor.. I was going to put it all back together and start the thing.. Rev it to 3000 for a minute and hope it unsticks (if it is a stuck seal and not cracked).
What do you guys think?
Thanks

If you can get at the exhaust ports, spray a bit of carb cleaner on the stuck seal and let it set for a day or two. Keep it wet with the cleaner.
It's very unusual for a seal to just randomly stick after a flooding incident. Does the bad seal feel sharp at all? If so, then the top piece may have rolled out and jammed.

No it doesn't have the sharp angled edge that the bottom half of the apex seal has... (that was originally my concern).. I might have put too much oil in the last time I tried to deflood it but I'm not quite sure how that would affect it. I will try the carb cleaner though..
Do you think that starting it up and reving it for a minute, or just driving it, will unstick the seal via centrifugal force?
Thanks
