Tokico blues are a popular low-end choice.

A step up would be the adjustable models- Tokico Illumina or KYB AGX (which is what I'm going to be trying).

Above those would be coilovers.

KYB and Tokico both have lifetime warranties for the original owner when used on street cars.

Just make sure you replace the old, torn original suspension mounts and bushings when you upgrade. Changing bushings is a real pain for the average person, so you may want to pay a professional shop to do it.

I have eibach springs and koni shocks and struts. The Koni's are a little harder to install, but I think they are worth it. This car will corner faster than I dare to drive.

Konis have a lifetime warranty too.

but be careful, because I know the KYB GR-2s I had (on the corolla..) weren't eligible for the warranty because I had lowering springs on them which voids it.

I'm replacing the GR-2s on my corolla with Koni yellows, which should be a billion times better.

I have coilovers on my FC so I can't really contribute much from that.

How much of a difference would there be between something like the tokico's and oem replacement struts with only like 10k miles on them?

Hard to tell.

10k miles rolling down the interstate is a lot different than 10k bouncing down Broadway (a particularly crappy street in Denver).

between the tokico HPs and the OEM replacements, not much, they're a little sportier, but they're pretty much just OEM replacements themselves. same with KYB GR-2s.

tokico illuminas are a lot better and also adjustable.

I might be able to get some illuminas, but used and I'm not sure of the miles yet for pretty cheap. Would it be worth it or would the difference be noticeable other than that they're adjustable? Assuming that there is no more than 50k on the illuminas.

The 10k is a lot of interstate, not too many miles on really bad roads.

if you like your back and kidneys dont do coilovers.

I have racing beat springs coupe springs and AGXs in my vert and TEIN coilovers in my coupe- might as well be a truck.

All depends on the spring rates and the shock dampening... You could setup coilovers to float like a Buick if you wanted.

I'm using KYB AGX with GC coilovers and Eibach ProRace springs, 350lb/in fr, 275 rear. Depending on who you talk to, you'll hear AGX are crap compared to Koni Sports (yellows), or they're pretty comparable, making the AGX an excellent value. I'm pretty happy with the AGX's and have Koni yellows on my Passat, so while I don't have back to back comparison of the two, they do seem pretty comparable.
Big downside of the Konis for our cars (and my Passat) is the rears aren't adjustable on the car; serious PITA, since it discourages both playing with the settings to suit a particular track or your driving style, and changing them between track and street. So even if I went with Koni's for the front, I'd stick with the AGX's on the back, which are fairly easy to make quick adjustments to.

I've got KYB AGX's with Eibcach springs also and love the way they handle. Then again I used them to replace the oe sturts after 200k miles. Anything would have been better.
