Strut bars.

Hey everyone, first id like to say i searched and found nothing. I want to buy a front strut bar for my 88 NA vert(I also want a rear but I cant find where to install it). I have stock suspension, and i just want to know if the front strut bar will still help improve it. or is it pointless to get without coilovers and what not? Also im guessing the cheapo ebay ones dont work worth crap and I should get a better brand?

The ebay ones aren't terrible, but generally a solid bar is going to be a bit more rigid than an adjustable bar, as it will resist twisting better.

Something like a CorkSport or Cusco bar.

I see. the cheap ebay ones im seeing for the fc arent adjustable, but i can get a front and rear set shipped for under 50 bucks. But if they are crap I dont want to waste my money on them, not to mention i dont know where the rear one goes on my vert. Im thinking of getting a tanabe front for about 100 shipped.

I'm not even sure its possible to install the rear one on a vert. On the coupe you have to cut into the rear strut towers and remove some metal. Can you see the top of the rear shock towers from inside the trunk?

It's all metal, but as a rule I don't personally trust brand-x stuff from ebay. Personal preference. So long as you pick a reputable brand (Cusco, Tanabe, CorkSport, etc.) you should be fine regardless of price.

Thats not what I mean. There might be **** in the way between the towers on a vert... you know like the top when its folded down. I dunno, which is why I asked/mentioned it.

In six years of screwing around with 7's I've never seen a vert with a rear strut bar, and I've only seen like 6 coupes with the rear bar (mine included).

Thanks guys, I also am thinking that the rear is a no go. I think ill just go with the tanabe front. Btw to install, do I just remove the 4 nuts on the strut tower and put the bar on and torque the nuts back down?

Dont you want to jack up the front of the car so the strut towers are as far apart as possible, then while it's in the air put the bar on?

I have a Cusco OS on my Vert. It makes a difference. Also have front/rear Cusco OS on the Turbo.

If you do this, do not tighten it until the car is on the ground. You do not want to pre-load the bar.

Also, I chose the Mazdatrix bar for my 'vert. Definitely not the cheapest, but I wanted a one-piece bar and it was only one I could find.

On verts I believe the spare tire would get in the way of a RSTB.

Be careful while installing it. You can mess your alignment up a bit if you are really picky. It will only minutely affect it, but again if you are picky, be careful.
