Anyone have a problem with their strut bar rubbing the top of the alt. when they put it on. I put one on yesterday and noticed it resting on top of alt. Time to get the grinder out

 

no, re-adjust the strut bar so that it does not hit.

No grinding needed...

and you took your car somewhere to put on a front strut bar???

 

Or you could get a shorter belt for the alt. to move it down a bit.


That's what I did

 

Undo the bolts for the main bar and move it to the other side. Works like a charm.

 

mine just hit the intake manifold,
so I took the bar off and turned it upside down and rested the ends on 4x4 wood blocks, stood in the middle to bend it just a hair so it would clear and its been fine ever since....

Agreed. A shorter belt will be easier then grinding.

I had this problem with a cheap bar that I had bought. Bought a better one and problem was solved!

 

2 options:

bend the bar a little.
get a shorter alt belt.

either one works fine, but note that bending hte bar too much will cause it to rub agaisnt the hood.

Mine's the $7.99 special off ebay. Just grab a wrench, take off the two bolts holding the main bar on to the tower mounts, move the bar on the other side so it's closer to the nose, and throw the bolts back on. Easy fix.

 

i used the shorter belt method, always good to do some maintenance related stuff in the process.
