STRANGE someone tell me if theres a solution

ok so i buy my rx-7 from my friend its in good condition it just needs a party for its cruddy idle, its perfectly driveable you just have to move you can't stay still, ive been playing with it ive only been able to drive it since monday it boosted fine and everything but i knew it had a vac leak which i got looked at yesterday and i found out its the EGR valve and its in the open position because its broken alright so im like thats fine i find that part online for $5, and then when im driving to a soccer game i'm feelin a lil boost hungry go for boost and it takes the car sooooooooooo much effort to go into it all of a sudden and the car is kinda back firing and my exhuast is flamming like a **** and burning the tips sometimes. When the turbo tries to kick in all it is is like a vacuuming sound kinda, and my friend got to the turbo replaced with a S4 turbo with 5k on it for $200 so i really dont possibly think it could be the turbo i'm not sure what kinda hoses can go bad under there that deal with the turbo but when you try to turn the car on it'll crank to 1k and just drop and you can smell the carbon monoxide it burnnnnnnnss, but my mechanic told me the EGR would fix that so now im getting it towed im just wondering if anyone has any similar problems. im 17 so im new to cars, and sports cars especially but it's all a learning experience. I'm just hoping another vacuum leak has occured and nothing REALLY big.

He told me the EGR would fix my idle problem but he hasn't seen the car yet since the turbo problem and he's going to see it today.

Could be a many number of things. Boost leaks, cracked TID, clogged exhaust, all kinds of possibilities. I suggest you read the FAQ at the top of the main page, get the FSM's and just start reading over things, because you're going to want to get the hang of fixing things yourself.

I would say its a vac/boost leak.. car starts going to boost, air leaks out.. afm reads air that doesn't get into the engine.. runs pig rich, and back fires and flames do to it running so rich..

I would first check for boost leak..

yep

thats whats happening it sounds like its like trying to get air or something to boost but it doesnt boost much at all if any sometimes and it flames and backfires and **** and runs super rich and now since my EGR is broken and stays open so much excess fuel that my spark plugs were covered in fuel and i gotta buy new ones but my EGR is on its way so im hoping all this work will not be for nothing. i know it already has one vac leak because of the EGR and now i think thats caused a boost leak also. any more incite?

Check your UIM and LIM gaskets....and may as well check your exhaust/turbo gaskets too....
