I just gutted my cat, but didn't remove the pump or the air hose leading to the "cat". Mine just smelled funny, but no smoke.
Was the pipe painted in some way?

mines did that for a while also and the smell was horrible. oh well well i put back the air pump and belt. put a small filter on the hose that went to the stock airbox. then welded to small air pipe directly ahead of the gutted cat to get clean air in there lol. then my white smoke was gone and a little of the bad smell along with it, still i cant drive with just my moonroof open,. unless i want to pass out lol

so is the white smoke coming from the air tube not being hooked up to the new cat replacement pipe? if so then i guess i could weld a bung on there somewhere and hook that air tube back up, and i assume that means i would have to hook the air pump back up as well. someone please chime in on if i have that right, or if there is some other way to stop this white smoke from practically pouring out at each rev.

i replaced a str8 pipe on mine, and the white smoke increased, then went away, now it does it only when its cold and i rev it to 4k rpm, but thats caused by oil control bearings or something along those lines, but having the cat on reduced the smoke so that i didnt know i had this problem before . just forget about it, unless its really that terrible, and yea i just cut the air feed pipe to the cat and left it hanging, air pump is still on, so maybe its something to do with your acv valve, any one concur?

no commment
I've replaced the cat with a straight pipe, with a pre-silencer, and now with a ultra high flow (as in empty) main cat. None of this caused white smoke. If I temporarily remove the air pump (which I did last week while changing the E-OMP), I don't get white smoke either. That being the case, I don't think it's the air pump or the cat replacement pipe.
You may wish to consider putting the air pump back on and checking to see if that makes a difference.
oil control bearings??? LOL

well i put the belt back on the air pump, and the hose from the intake to the air pump, and left the air tube that used to go to the cat plugged, and no more smoke. so taking this info, what am i doing wrong, or not doing at all when i remove the air pump belt?
