Strange problem with blinker switch, and etc.
It's about the turn signal/flash to pass switch. Ya know how when you press the switch down to turn on the left blinker(or up to turn on the right one), it stays in place until the turn is completed, and then flicks back in place? Mine doesn't stay when i press it down or pull it up. So when i have to make a turn or pass, i have to hold the switch and let go after a turn/lane change. Now it gets even better; the switch stays in place when i turn off the engine/power, and when i turn it back on, it wont stay in place anymore. Any ideas as to what the problem is?
On another note, my car seems to not have power steering as standard equipment, the steering isn't that bad, it's certainly heavy at low speeds and stops, but i got used to it. Would it be wise to install a power steering pump? It's an 86 sport

86 Sports didn't come with power steering, but 87 Sports did. Are you sure you have a 86??
If it did come with power steering from the factory, the pump may just be unplugged or disconnected, or the power steering computer unplugged.
As far as the turn signal switch, it sounds like the steering wheel position sensor is mis-aligned or damaged or disconnected (another reason why you may not have power steering, as the power steering computer would beep an error code if the steering wheel position sensor is not working correctly). A common problem with the steering position sensor is an aftermarket steering wheel mis-installed.
