strange 3800 fix

Usually my GXL won't pass 3800 under any kind of pedal (I've grounded the hell out of it). But last night a coolant hose ruptured (return line from heater core), and the car started running hot. at the point that the temp got rather hot, it would run cleanly to redline and had a lumpy idle between 1200 and 1700rpm. But when I'd let it cool and add more coolant to it, the hesitation came back. Does this help anyone to better diagnose my 3800 problem?
Thanks,
Chris

That isn't a hesitation problem, your car is in limp-home mode. You better get it checked out. I'd build an ecu code reader and try to get codes from your ECU.
