Mine is in the drivers side bin. Out of the way and out of the sight of the criminals. Also im about to stick my subs right behind the drivers and passengers seats, mounted just in front of the bins.

If you take the bins off so you just have holes, they make an excellent place for a battery in one and an amp in the other.

i thought i'd just let you know ahead of time that your setup is going to sound like utter and complete ****

and by ****, i mean its going to be really bad

just get a small enclousure and place it in the very back, facing upwards towards the hatch glass
get limo tint on the hatch if youre worried about theft

Have amp in passenger side, overheats like a bitch. Gonna make a custom fan or vents soon.

Yep I had mine in the driver side bin for awhile and it overheated everyday if I left the bin closed. I have mine under the driver seat now toward the bins on the floor, works perfect, and it's out of the sun.

I think that if you know anything about electronics then you know a closed area for a heat producing thing like an amplifier under any kind of load would be BAD!!!!

you should ALWAYS mount amps and such in a well ventilated area or you are looking to cause problems with the circuitry... just imagine put some cardboard over your radiator and how hot that would get... now its the same pinciple with the electronics...

I would suggest mounting your subs in the bins in some decent boxes and then mount the amps on top of them with another piece of wood built as a protectant shelf... therefore out of sight of criminals but also has air movement due to the subs constantly pulling and pushing air around in the area.

as far as venting goes, just drill two 3 inch holes in the bottom and get some computer case cooling fans and mount them to the bottom, two 5 amp line fuses and wire it to the amp's power

and i would suggest against that

putting subs in bin = instant shitty bass
the best place to have em is facing up towards hatch glass, itll hit like no other

I think a good idea is to have 2 subs behind the bins facing up at the hatch with an amp in the middle and to hide it from theives have a peice of plywood on a hinge wrapped in carpet to rotate over them when you have your sound system off. Then when you want to listen, rotate it the other way to cover the bins and expose the speakers. some matching carpet, plywood, a drill, 2 hinges, a few screws, and some staples (to double cover the plywood) and you can do it all for under $50. Just go through the pain of having the speakers and amps put in, and make your own custom rotating cover. anybody else see this working?

edit: maybe a simple twist locking device to keep the cover in place so it doesn't fly up and come crashing down on your speakers when you hit a bump as well as (or replace lock with) some rubber bumpers.

I put the subs in the storage bins, and the amp behind the passenger seat:

Sounds good.

Mines got trash/repair book/random parts I've collected/replaced...yeah. But putting amps in there is a good idea.

If u get a powered bazooka tube it fits in the rear tire area nicely. OF course if u want to keep a spare tire that wont work. Sounds nice but wont win me any sound competitions.

why dont you mount your amps right behind the seat down by the floor!! you can mount it right on the metal there(right below the bins). Thats where I put mine, I had them in the bins once but they werent getting enough air for cooling, when you run high power amps. Just a thought.

Anyone thought if cutting the center of the bin lid open, replacing ti with a hard screenign and then placing the amps in there, for ventilation. Just get some felt the same color as your carpet and lay it over the mesh.
