stop warning light problem

Ok I got a weired problem. Sometimes when I step on the brakes the stop warning light turnes on. But this is rare.

It's almost a guarantee that the stop warning light will turn on:

1) When I FIRST step on the brakes and THEN turn on the signals (left/right) the stop warning starts blinking. But the front and rear signals are working fine. I don't think that the parking lights on the fenders should be blinking.

2) When I FIRST step on the break pedal and THEN put into reverse (auto transmission). But the reverse lights work.

3) The stop warning light sometimes turns on when I FIRST step on the brake and then move the sun/moon roof front and back. The sun/moon roof works fine.

thanks

But all the brake lights still work. All the rear brake lights light up when I step on the brakes. Is it possible that when ever I do the actions I stated above they could be messing with the brake light(s)?

sounds like a bad ground at the lights, or bad voltage in the car.

Okay I checked the grounds to the lights (the black wires right?) and they all seem like they are in good condition. But what I haven't checked is which part of the body it ground to.

The farthest that I've followed the grounding wires was a little bit past the antenna. Anyone know where the wires end up?

Did you replace the lights (as in) S4 to S5 or something like that??? if so you may need to use the light harness based on what year you have, not the one that came with the lights.

^ I didn't do any S4 to S5 conversion. I just replaced the bulbs with an OEM replacement from Shucks to check if that would solve the problem. But it didn't, now I think it really is a grounding issue. But I just don't why because as far as I can tell the wires look fine.

I guess I could try regrounding the major parts in my car (like battery terminal, engine block to firewall, etc.). But I still think that shouldnt be necessary for me to do in order to solve the this problem.

thanks for the help.

If it is a S4 it could also be a bad CPU, but that is pretty rare.

well on the S4 the Brake warning is the 4 pin plug/board on the bottom of the CPU. They almost never fail. But I do have rebuilt ones on my webstore if you need one.
