Stock stereo wiring woes
When I bought the car, the previous owner took his CD deck out, and put the factory stereo in it's place. He installed it physically, but did NONE of the wiring. Bastard!
I tried a search, but got nothing relevant. Could someone tell me which wire goes where, or give me a diagram? Any help would be much appreciated, as I have never installed a car stereo before.
Thanks

Hey,
Are the white clips still there. If they are they you should be able to go to any local audio shop and ask for a wiring harness for a rx7. wire the wiring harness to your new cd player then clip the wiring harness to the exsisting white clips that came from the stock radio. There is also a relay that you have to buy to get the antenna to go up. Goto radio shack and buy a car relay has like four prongs on it. Then call up crutchfield lie and say you bought something from them and get there tech support they will tell you how to hook it up so the attena goes up and down. If he spliced into the wires without using a wiring harness, goto you local mazda shop and they should have the wiring diagrams for it. Just ask them to copy it for you.

Thanks for your help, guys. The PDF's are a big help. The main problem i'm running into is deciding which goes where on my stock Mazda stereo.
It looks like 2 large plugs, composed of many wires, are supposed to go into my stereo, but there are none. It looks like the PO really did a shitty job of installing his new deck. What I could use more than anything else, is a picture of the back of the Mazda deck, and labels of which wires go where.
Again, i'm INSTALLING THE STOCK STEREO. So a harness from a stereo shop won't do me any good. (i think)

ok I got you now.
I really can't remember how it was hooked up.
There are 4 stock stereos:
1-Radio/Cassette (that you stick in sideways), assuming same as yours.
2-The one with equalizer (found in GXLs)
3-89-91 version of #1
4-CD player/radio/equalizer.
you are going to need the stock harnesses, and connect it to the respective wires.
I don't think it is worth it. Even the one with equalizer isn't too good.

Well, I have an '87 Sport. It has a cassette player and a equalizer. I would put in a CD player that doesn't sound like crap, but i'm completely broke. My only chance of not being bored beyond belief is the stock stereo, and a Discman.
So to reconnect it, I would need to find a stock wiring harness and splice it back?
