just started doing it today, when im in 5th gear it will start to come on if im just cruising. Its kind of annoying, any suggestions on how to fix the problem or just get rid of it?

Very common problem. A sensor/switch has gone bad. Search and you will find what you need to replace.

 

ROFL!! YOU ACTUALLY HAVE A SHIFT LIGHT!!!

oh, yeah....

Just cut out the bulb from behind the gague cluster. Why have a light tell you what you already (should) know?

 

There is a reverse/5th gear switch at the rear of the tranny by the tail shaft. Check to see if any connections came loose.

 

I think there is a TSB out there somewhere on this issue.

 

I could probably look that up for you on monday at school (we run alldata which gives the listing of all the cars TSB's from 82 to today)

yeah, i was trying to think of somehting like that when i wrote the thread but just wasnt witty enough for my own thread i guess.
