Stock oil pressure gauge.

The last three FC's I've had had dead oil pressure gauges, one of which worked fine and just stopped after a while, is it the gauge cluster itself or a sensor or some sort? Is this a common issue?

it's the temperature sendor. This was discussed last week, so do a search for "gauge" or "temperature" and you should see it

I have seen It many times to be the Oil Sender Unit but Icemark suggests It to be the Thermo Valve within the Oil Cooler. Take you pic.

No, the only time it is thermo valve is when there is low pressure, rather than no pressure.

No pressure I would be saying bad sender.

Low pressure, I would be saying E-shaft thermo valve

Normal or a little low pressure, dropping with RPM, I would say leaking front o-ring

Just a gauge that shows nothing, and points below 0, still sender?

Mine does this too (but my car has a blown motor), not sure if its just not building oil pressure because of that or what. Another thing to tackle when the new motor gets here.

After confirming a clean connection at the Sender Unit, yea likely It. Unless the contacts at the back of the Cluster need attention.

Just turn on the igntion. Put a friend in the drivers seat. Then ground the connector that runs to the pressure sending unit. Ground breifly. your friends should notice the gauge peg. If it pegs your cluster.....is not....clustered

It would probally be the sending unit.

Do you mean you are having a hard time getting the pressure sensor back in the block?

What if the oil pressure gauge goes all the way to the top at idle? Bad gauge? Bad sending unit?

Well, if your gauge pegs it would lead me to believe your sensor wire is grounding out somewhere. That sounds like fun. If you cant find the short might just need to run a new wire.

Thanks. I'll look for a bad wire coming from the sender. Maybe the sender wire is messed up.
