stock e-fan?

I have a 1990 GTU, and I was wondering did all of them came with an e-fan( in the FSM, in the cooling_system section, page E-13) right behind the oil cooler, because I have one. Also I’m wanting to say its bolted to the condenser but I’m not sure, It goes from front bumper: oil cooler, e-fan(pusher), condenser(I think), radiator. Also how good is this fan? Any help would be grateful. Thanks

Its for the air conditioner condensor (radiator thing for the A/C). Its not meant to try to cool the engine main radiator and doesn't move enough air to cool the main radiator, so don't try to use it for that.

Do you know what ur talking about? First fo all the a/c condenser is next to it so it is not affected by the fan at all. Second of all the fan is wired to the temp sensor in the radiator, which more than likely means it is turned on by high temps. Of course it would not cool the radiator on its own but it is made to assist in cooling the rad under high temps.

I checked the FSM and I guess I don't know what I'm talking about. I had been told only the models with A/C had the e-fan. Mine has A/C (I removed it cause the car is not stock and not a daily driver) and I remember the fan being attached to the grill thing (which I guess is not the condensor) so I figured I was told the right thing. Obviously not.

It *IS* for cars with A/C, when the A/C is engaged and the switch hits so many degrees, it turns on.

Here's the correct info. The fan will operate any time the A/C is on OR the coolant reaches 205degF. The temp switch is mounted on the filler neck (S4) or on the back of the water pump (S5), not on the radiator. The fan is not attached to the A/C condensor, but sits directly in front of it. It's bolted to the chassis.

The electronic schematics show that non-A/C equipped cars have it too.

That's interesting, never in the 80+ FC's ive worked on have I seen a car without A/C that had one.

I don't sense any hostility here.
