Stock cat converter removal question

Can anyone tell me what this tube/wire is, coming off the (A-Spec) driver's side of the stock cat converter? I searched the forums but didn't find anything and it's not mentioned what this is and what purpose it serves in the factory manual... It's on the opposite side of the cat to where the split air pipe runs.

With the state of the rust on the nuts, I don't think I'll be able to disconnect it at the flange somehow!

Thanks in advance.

ground strap ?? There's a floor overheat sensor on passengers side, but that looks like a ground strap. The S5s have one on the drivers rear muffler.

The drivers side of the cat is normally where the air pump feed goes. It appears to be even the same mounting bracket and coupling, but it should not be running inside the car.

Where does the hose go inside the car???

You sure Mark? I'm pretty sure it's the passenger side of the cat where the air pump feed goes.... At least it was when I switched out my stock car for a bonez hi-flow and had to re-connect the air hose. I don't want to get owned by you here so i'm just asking

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it goes off the pass side, too. As for what that is, maybe he relocated the stock exhaust temp warning sensor or something. I know stock its sitting on pass floorboard under seat, which looks like about where that wire goes to.

I think that's the ground strap. The air tube is on the passenger side.

yep, you guys are right. On the pass side. Must be a temp sensor, but again, he never answered where the wires/ tube runs.

It is not a ground however.

Thanks for the posts everyone. Pulled the passenger seat out this morning, pulled back the carpet and found an electrical 2-pin plug that the braided wire in the pic is connected to.

The air pipe runs on the opposite side of this flange. The pic i posted appears to be an electrical connection to some sort of sensor on the cat... no tube running into the interior after all. Sorry about the confusion.

Yep, its the over heat sensor. The non A spec cars have a different overheat set up than the A specs. Even the Icon on the clock warning panel is different.

Is this pic from a non-A-spec car? I agree it probably would be a heat sensor, I've never seen one set up like that though. BTW do the heat sensors work? I had a S4 that did burnouts for like 5 min straight. I had the cats glowing like neon underlights and no heat warning.

Edit: My bad, I just realized this car is from "down under"

I have a header with no heat wrap or anything and the heat sensor never went off. My wife even commented on how the floorboard was warm, so I don't know what it takes to set them off.
